About the club
Nestled in the beautiful backcountry of Connecticut, Greenwich Polo Club was established in 1981 and is recognized as one of the elite high-goal polo venues in the world. Known for its unmatched roster of legendary teams, professional players, and champion equine athletes, fondly known as polo ponies. Distinguished families, young entrepreneurs, artists, and well-known personalities are all part of the international dynamic which makes Greenwich Polo Club so unique.
The club is home to the legendary White Birch polo team, one of the most successful in history, having won the most high-goal polo tournaments of any team over the course of the past 25 years, including the US Open Polo Championship in 2005. Some of the world’s best players have played at Greenwich Polo Club, including Mariano Aguerre, Facundo Pieres, Hilario Ulloa, Nacho Figueras and many others.
Each Sunday match is attended by more than 2,000 spectators flocking from New York City, Fairfield and Westchester counties, to witness the highest caliber of polo while enjoying an afternoon with friends and family. Greenwich Polo Club has also hosted many dignitaries and celebrities and in 2013 Prince Harry chose Greenwich Polo Club to host the Sentebale Royal Salute Polo Cup. The prestigious match raised funds for the Sentebale charity founded by Prince Harry and Prince Seeiso of Lesotho in memory of their mothers to raise funds for Lesotho’s most vulnerable children.

U.S.P.A. East Coast Open
This year, the club is hosting the U.S.P.A. East Coast Open, a National tournament starting on 23 August 2015, and with finals on 6 September 2015, televised by NBC Sports Network.
The East Coast Open was founded in Rhode Island in 1905 and was played until World War I. It had a renaissance starting in 1978 when Donald Little, then President of the USPA and Captain of the Myopia Polo Club, resurrected the tournament and brought it to Myopia Polo Club in South Hamilton, Massachusetts where it was played until the early 2000’s. At its height 13 teams played in the 14-20 goal tournament, including many 10 goal players such as Mariano Aguerre, Mike Azzaro, Tommy Biddle, and Gonzalo Pieres, Sr. who inspired a lot of today’s players to pick up their mallets.
Tickets are not yet available for sale for the East Coast Open, but for the fans of the GPC there is a pre-registration program for tickets: www.GreenwichPoloClub.com/eco-insider

Watch polo in the luxury of a private cabana. We have VIP cabanas located in prime locations that seat 8 people starting at $600.
Grandstand boxes with prime polo viewing will accommodate up to 4 guests, and can be booked for an individual match starting at $300, or book it for the entire season.
J House Greenwich will be hosting a specialty craft cocktail bar at Greenwich Polo Club. The J House mixologists will be pouring polo-inspired cocktails such as The Third Man made with KEEL Vodka, fresh grapefruit and lime, simple syrup and a dash of soda – named for the deciding umpire during a disagreement on the polo field – because tough decisions are best made with a KEEL cocktail in hand. The bar will also be serving beer and wine from sponsors Stella Artois and Whispering Angel Rose. In addition to hosting the specialty craft cocktail bar, J House will be the official after party destination for polo fans and players to unwind after the match. Located a short drive from the polo grounds at 1114 East Putnam Avenue in Greenwich, the after party will feature live music and DJ’s at J House’s outdoor pool. VIPs can purchase cabanas for preferred seating and access.
Whether fans choose to picnic on the sidelines or go the VIP route by purchasing grandstand tickets or private cabanas, there are plenty of food options to delight even the most discerning palettes. Each Sunday afternoon match, food trucks offering fresh local lobster rolls, farm to table wood fired brick oven pizza and freshly prepared gelato will be on site. You’ll want to arrive with an empty stomach to sample delicacies from Caffe Bon, Lobstercraft, Skinny Pines, Bounty, Follow That Cupcake, La Fenice Gelato and more.
