The first polo match in Germany took place towards the end of the 19th century in Hamburg. The polo club in the Hanseatic city was founded in 1898 and is the oldest club in continental Europe. In 1936 the Olympic Games were held in Berlin, with polo being an olympic discipline for the last time. Today polo is played all over Germany. As Germany's first polo league, the German Polo Tour unites various polo locations to create a Germany-wide series of tournaments.
