Maserati Polo Tour visits the U.S.

Maserati kicked off the 2015 edition of its “Maserati Polo Tour” in partnership with international sports and leisure apparel brand La Martina this May at various venues across Europe, where the ‘Made in Italy’ car manufacturer is named title and team sponsor of the world’s most elite polo events.

On the past weekend the Maserati Polo Tour also stopped at Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club. As this year’s title sponsor, Maserati was the prominent marque on the playing field and among polo’s finest players at the 2015 USPA Maserati Silver Cup tournament.

Once again, the Trident joined forces with La Martina, the official supplier of the Maserati team and polo’s leading authority in sporting attire. To celebrate the world polo tour, the two brands collaborated to introduce a new sports and leisure capsule collection designed by La Martina, exclusively for Maserati which was on full display at this year’s world renowned sporting tournament. The active-wear collection is inspired by the “Polo Player Kit” as well as the players’ quintessential off-field style.

VIPs including actress Natasha Henstridge were on hand, joined by loyal spectators and polo enthusiasts. Alan Thicke also made an appearance Silver Cup weekend to honor the Maserati team and experience the thrill of Maserati in person.

The Maserati Team’s horsepower was on full display with dynamic plays by Steve Kreuger, Jesse Bray, Mike Azarro and Justin Klentner. The action-packed match was held at one of the US’s oldest and most prestigious tournaments, first established in 1974; at the Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club. At the conclusion of a thrilling and close match, the Farmers and Merchants Bank Team took home top honours.

Christian Gobber, President & CEO of Maserati North America, Inc. said: “Polo is a unique sport that respects a time honoured tradition representing power, passion and performance, a perfect pairing for Maserati. We are proud to partner with La Martina to outfit the Maserati team in such a prestigious sporting event that is equally synonymous with our own design ethos; a well-suited match indeed.”

Adrian Simonetti, CEO of La Martina, said: “La Martina is honoured to support this stage of the Maserati Polo Tour. I’m personally delighted that we have come a long way as global partners in polo and particularly to host this event in the beautiful surroundings of the Santa Barbara Polo Club. Both Maserati and La Martina share the true passion and elegance of the sport and the thrill of the horsepower.”

At the distinguished event Maserati showcased an array of its 2015 models including the winning Ghibli sports sedan, flagship Quattroporte model and stylish GranTurismo Coupe and Convertible models.

About Maserati
Maserati was founded in Bologna by Alfieri Maserati on 1 December 1914 and established as a mechanical workshop named ‘Officine Alfieri Maserati’. In 1926 Maserati was transformed into a company designing, building and selling its own vehicles. The Maserati brothers adopted the symbol of the Trident, inspired by the famous statue of Neptune in Bologna. At the end of the 1930s, Maserati moved to Modena to the current site in Viale Ciro Menotti.

Maserati has been part of the Fiat Group – now FCA – since 2005 and is a prestigious brand in the sector of sports and luxury saloon cars. It can be found in more than 60 countries, where it continues to bear witness to Italian sophistication, elegance and style around the world. Today the Modena factory and the Avv. Giovanni Agnelli Plant, in Grugliasco, are able to guarantee the highest technical and quality standards.

Maserati celebrated the start of 2013 with the presentation of the sixth generation Quattroporte and with the Ghibli, the new top of the range saloon which marks Maserati’s entrance into the E segment of the market. The sporty Ghibli saloon and flagship Quattroporte, feature V6 and V8 Twin-Turbo engines with power outputs ranging from 330-530hp: there is also a Q4 all-wheel drive version as well as the recently introduced V6 Turbo Diesel with 275hp.

The range is completed by the GranTurismo coupe and the “open” GranCabrio version; equipped with aspirated V8 engines with 405-460hp they are able to offer the comfort typical of Maserati GT cars, designed to accompany passengers on pleasant journeys at a fast pace and in a comfortable and elegant way.

2014 was a very special year for Maserati as the company celebrated its centennial and, with 36,500 units delivered, a record number of vehicles sold.
