St. Regis Hotels & Resorts is the new title sponsor for the Aspen World Snow Polo Championship, taking place from 16-19 December 2015. Nestled at the base of majestic Aspen Mountain, St. Regis Hotels & Resorts has always played a key role in the success of North America’s only snow polo tournament.
Melissa and Marc Ganzi, co-founders of Aspen Valley Polo Club, along with polo ambassador and St. Regis Connoisseur Nacho Figueras, will host the final stop on the World Polo Tour for the third consecutive year. “To be able to play polo in this environment with this background is really fantastic, and another great way to introduce people to the sport of polo,” Figueras said. Audi, FlexJet and US Polo Assn. return as major sponsors. One Caribbean Estates and the Barbados Tourism Authority are new to the sponsor list this year.
One of the most important and prestigious snow polo tournaments in the world, has attracted six teams with some of the world’s top polo players including Figueras and 8-goal American Nic Roldan. The glitz, glamour and excitement of one of the world’s top snow polo tournaments is a major attraction not only for the local community but fans from all over the world that fly in for the breathtaking scenery, venue and great polo action.
On Wednesday, 16 December 2015 The St. Regis Aspen Resort will host the presentation of teams and tournament draw. First round games are due on Thursday, 17 December 2015 at 11:30 a.m. at Aspen Valley Polo Club Arena in Carbondale. On Friday, 18 December and Saturday, 19 December, Rio Grande Park will host the action. Rio Grande Park is Aspen’s largest multi-functional park within the city’s limits and just minutes away from the St. Regis Aspen Resort.
On Friday, playoff games for fifth and sixth places are scheduled for noon to 3 p.m. On Saturday, fans will get the chance to meet the players at noon before the final and subsidiary games along with the trophy presentation are held 1-4 p.m.
