This Saturday, June 22nd, some of the world’s best polo players will meet at the 2013 Laureus Polo Cup to compete against each other for the good cause. The event takes place at the Guards Polo Club in London in support of the Fundación Laureus Argentina. Among the participants will be world-famous polo players such as Adolfo Cambiaso (Laureus Ambassador), Juan Martin Nero, David Stirling as well as the two brothers Facundo and Nicolas Pieres.
Many famous members of the Laureus World Sports Academy have already confirmed their attendance: tennis legend Boris Becker, England cricket hero Ian Botham, Laureus Academy Chairman Edwin Moses and rugby giants Sean Fitzpatrick, the former All Blacks captain, and Hugo Porta, in his day Argentina’s greatest rugby player who is now President of the Fundación Laureus Argentina. Also present as a spectator will be polo great Eduardo Heguy, now a Laureus Ambassador.
Hugo Porta: “This has become a great annual event and a wonderful day out. People who come along will have the chance to watch top class polo and raise money for an important humanitarian cause.”
The event is supported by Mercedes-AMG, the performance brand of Mercedes-Benz, and renowned Swiss watchmaker IWC Schaffhausen. Mercedes-Benz and IWC Schaffhausen are both Global Partners of the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation. Since its founding in 2000 the foundation has raised over 60 million euro for almost 140 projects worldwide.
