Team Ghantoot ADCB, consisting of Ali Al Merri, Oscar Colombres, Facundo Sola and Pelayo Berazadi, is the winner of the 2014 Bentley Emirates Gold Cup. Next to defending its last year’s title, the team has also achieved its second victory at the 2014 Dubai Polo Gold Cup Series (Dubai Open) after winning the McLaren Silver Cup.
In the final, teams Ghantoot ADCB and Habtoor Polo faced each other, the same finalists as last year. Ghantoot ADCB made a great start and already took control of the match during the first chukka, whereas Habtoor Polo did not score once during the first two chukkas. In the third chukka the team scored for the first time, but Ghantoot ADCB was much more goal-oriented and already led by a large margin, 6-1. During the two final chukkas team Habtoor Polo flipped the switch and started a sensational comeback. Mohammed Al Habtoor’s team narrowed the gap to two goals, but there was not enough time to pull ahead and so Ghantoot won the match by 7-5.
Pelayo Berazadi was named Most Valuable Player in the final and the award for Best Playing Pony of the match went to Cenicienta, played by Facundo Sola.
Before the final match, team Mahra won against team Bin Dhrai by golden goal, 8-7, and thus gained the Power Horse Cup.
