Team Tom Tailor I of Caesar Crasemann (+1), Gastón Maiquez (+7), Uwe Schröder (0) and Aki van Andel (+2) are the winners of the Bucherer High Goal Cup 2014. An extremely exciting finals day took place yesterday in the glorious sunshine at Gut Aspern, Hamburg. The Bucherer High Goal Cup was lucky enough to have secured professional umpire Julian Appleby, who has experience umpiring all over the world, for the tournament. A great number of spectators attended the final day of the tournament to support the eight teams playing.

The first match saw team Joop/Kaland with Christian Grimme (0), Christopher Winter (+3), Adrian Laplacette (+5) and Oliver Winter (+2) face Mariusz Switalski (0), Mateusz Switalski (+2), Jacinto Crotto (+5)and Zenon Crotto (+3)of team El Polista. El Polista just managed to win the match with the final score of 9-7.

The second match of the day took place between Reinhold Hofmann (0), Moritz Gädeke (+3), Tatu Gomez Romero (+4) and Sven Schneider (+3) of team Wiessner and Daniel Crasemann (0), Lukas Sdrenka (+2), Heinrich Dumrath (+3) and Thomas Winter (+4) of team Lanson. A very exciting match ensued with some particularly excellent play by Moritz Gädeke for team Wiessner. The final goal of the match, scored by Tatu Gomez Romero, just enabled team Wiessner to win the match and secure 5th place.

An incredibly closely contested game followed between Marie-Jeanette Ferch (0), Heino Ferch (0), Santiago Marambio (+5) and Nacho Garrahan (+4) of team Landrover against Gregor Gerlach (+1), Max Bosch (+3), Christopher Kirsch (+3) and Victorio Monteverde (+3) of team Bucherer. The score remained close throughout the game, with both sides really having to fight until the very last seconds of the final chukka and really keeping the spectators on the edges of their seats. Team Landrover just managed to win the game thanks to a final goal at the end of last chukka by Nacho Garrahan, bringing the final score up to 6-5.

The final match of the day saw the two Tom Tailor teams face each other once again, after their fight for the top spot at last weekend’s Berenberg Polo-Derby in Hamburg. An equally exciting game followed with both teams playing extremely well. Santos Anca supported his team superbly from the number four position but once again Tom Tailor I pulled ahead in the final chukka and were the victors of the tournament with a final score of 6-4,5.
