Santa María Polo Club has already closed the calendar for 2016, a year full of competitions in Medium and Low Goal.

More than 23 tournaments throughout the year are planned, including the famous spring and summer seasons. Competitions hosting players of all nationalities who come to discover and experience the club’s famous polo fields and also the quality lifestyle offered in Sotogrande.

The great novelty this year is the European Polo Tournament for the winter season. No doubt an excellent opportunity to play polo in one of the best destinations in the world with a mild climate that allows this sport throughout the year.

Spring will offer plenty of events in the section Medium Goal. The José Ignacio Domecq and Count of Guaqui Memorials will take place during the Easter holidays, both being excellent 8-goal top competitions attracting important teams every year. While these tournaments are held, there will be a parallel Easter Low Goal competition. Easter tournaments are also a special occasion to come upon the Easter Andalusian traditions and its worldwide famous processions in Seville and Malaga. It’s a good opportunity for leisure, culture and relax for the whole family, even a perfect moment to let the kids taste the game of polo at Santa María Polo Club’s school.

During the month of June, the second Santa María Foundation Open will take place on three weekends. It was a great success last year because of the audience and the partakers, and also because of the activities organized by the club for the attendees, including children’s tournaments, the basis of this sport in an upcoming future.
The arrival of numerous horses and players in June to play the great International Summer Tournament, the Count of La Maza Memorial and the Prado and Colón de Carvajal Memorial, do warm up the ambience for the big opening of the International Summer Tournament, the social and sporting event marking the beginning and end of the summer in Spain.

As a new addition to the aforementioned winter season, after the success of the Ladies’ National Championship last year, the second edition of this competition will be held in 2016 as an appetizer before the International Summer Tournament. A second women’s Spring tournament is hosted thanks to the number of players willing to play at Santa María Polo Club.
