Premier: the “Horse Guards Parade”, the large parade area in front of the official entrance to Buckingham Palace will be used as the venue for an international polo tournament on 14th August. Used by Henry VIII for jousting tournaments and the venue for the annual Queen’s Birthday Parade, polo teams from England, Ireland, Wales and Thailand will meet in two weeks to compete in this polo tournament.

The tournament coincides with the first day of the show jumping tournament series “Global Champions Tour”, which will be held on the Horse Guards Parade from 14th-16th August 2014. After years of planning, Johnny Wheeler and Roderick Vere Nicoll are very much looking forward to this one of a kind polo event: “We are thrilled to bring the wonderful sport of polo to the centre of London. It is a spectacular and convenient location for polo supporters and those who are new to the game to enjoy high level polo.”

In addition to the polo, guests can watch the show jumping and enjoy the retail and food stands. The ground opens at 8am (local time) for the show jumping. The polo matches start at 6:30pm (local time) and finish at 10pm (local time).
