France – Buenos Aires – Chile: between the September just gone and March 2015, one polo event follows hot on the heels of another. POLO+10 is there at the heart of the action.

After England became European Champions in the French town of Chantilly in September, all eyes now turn to the south west. Everyone is eagerly awaiting the Triple Crown and its highlight, the Argentine Open. The European polo contingent is currently packing its suitcases and heading off to South America, and POLO+10 is looking forward to enjoying four exciting weeks in the Cathedral of Polo in Palermo/Buenos Aires once again this year. As an international polo magazine, we’ll be represented with our own stand at the Argentine Open.

The World Championships in Chile then take place at the end of March; the qualification matches for this tournament are still underway in the individual country zones. In an interview with POLO+10, Dr Piero Dillier (European delegate to the FIP) suggests that the structural framework of the World and European Championships should be discussed in greater detail. The issue at stake is the costs that must be borne and justified by the respective event organiser and participating teams. Decentralised qualification rounds and a final that takes place in an international centre that is close to potential sponsors and is able to attract spectators are just one suggestion that the FIP could consider for the future.

It was a huge honour and joy for us to talk to the wonderful Claire Tomlinson. She is the first woman ever to have achieved a +5 handicap. As chairman of the world-famous Beaufort Polo Club, she is a force to be reckoned with in international sport and is truly dedicated to training young horses. We’re also proud to have been able to get one of the world’s best polo coaches, Rege Ludwig, to share his experiences and tricks on the polo field with our readers and active polo players.

We hope you enjoy reading this new edition of POLO+10 World. All the best and we’ll see you in spring 2015. Until then, you can follow all our news on www.poloplus10.com
