Anna Oettingen-Wallerstein (-1), Yoanna Otto (-1), Christine Thomé (0) and Agustin Kronhaus (+3) of Team Rolls-Royce are the winners of the fourth Girls Only Cup at Wallerstein Palace.

In a thrilling and fast finale the four defeated Team Acqua di Parma with Isabel Beyer von Morgenstern (-1), the thailander Caroline Link (0), the irish player Charlotte Sweeney (+1) and Segundo Copello (+2) with 5,5:5. It was the first victory for Anna Oettingen-Wallerstein who is also the host of the cup: „You really don´t like to win as the host of a tournament. But after three second places the years before I am really happy. Also because I played in a team with my daughter.“

After tropical temperatures on friday the wether conditions became extreme on saturday. Anna Oettingen-Wallerstein: „On saturday night there was a tornado-like hurricane right after all the guest dressed in pink arrived. The storm left a trace of destruction as no one has seen in the last 50 years. Happily human and horse remained uninjured. With the help of 30 tireless and dynamic persons starting to clean up at 5 am on sunday morning the tournament could be finished on a perfectly groomed field but accompanied with hard rain and new squalls.“

Carl-Eugen Oettingen-Wallerstein adds: „Especially the match of the kids teams Los Indianos from Munich and Fischpanzer from Donau Ries was really important to us. Hard preparation and anticipation should not be destroyed. Los Indianos played fantastically with such talented Grabosch brothers and Lara Schwarz.“ With 4:3 Los Indianos won finally. „Most Valuable Player“ became the only five year old Michl Grabosch whos legs were not long enough to reach the saddle flap but racing over the field in a strong gallop.

„This pink weekend of extremes will be part of the (polo-)annals of the house Wallerstein and we will tell our grandchildren of this“ summarizes Col. Justin Stanhope-White.

Even the link man Jens „Günni“ Thomsen whose car got chrashed through a fallen tree took it sporty and with lots of humor: „I came with a station wagon and go home with a convertible.“

All in all six interational teams fought for victory. To make the game more open and faster for the first time one male player per team was allowed but he had some rules: he had to pass after the third ball contact and was only allowed to score behind the 60 yards line. „Most Valuable Player“ became Valerie Crasemann of Team Falke.
