The build-up of the ice on the lake of St. Moritz had been somewhat due to warmish temperatures in the last few weeks. Nevertheless, the ice is of a good quality and has been growing steadily. On Monday and Tuesday, new measurements and stress tests were conducted. They showed that the ice will stand the weights during the construction process.
On Wednesday morning, work started to put up the infrastructure on the lake. Specialists, mandated by the city’s “Lake Infra” company, began to build tent floors, tents, grand stands and supply lines. Regarding the preparation of the polo field, the organisers will decide by the end of this week whether machine-made snow will have to be added to the snow expected to be falling later this week.
Four high goal teams from Australia, Ireland, Italy and Switzerland will compete at the Snow Polo World Cup St. Moritz between 30 January and 1st February 2015. The tournament will attract media and visitors from all continents. The entry to the lake including the grand stands is free. VIP tickets are available on www.ticketcorner.ch
