Robert Szücs (0), Max Bosch (+3), Fernando Miño (+3) and Tomas Maiquez (+6) of team Alpha Community came off as the winners of the 2013 Austrian Polo Open. In a moving final the foursome defeated team Hämmerle with Werner Graf (0), Walter Scherb (he replaced the injured Robert Kofler), Santiago Marambio (+5) and Lucas Di Paola (+6) by 9-5. Both teams tried their best and until the fifth minute in the last chukker the score was even. But in the last two minutes team Alpha Community really got started and Fernando Miño scored several goals. Finally the scoreboard said 9-5 for team Alpha Community.

Lukas Sdrenka (+1), Caspar Crasemann (+2), Heinrich Dumrath (+3) and Gaston Maiquez (+6) of team Ebinger were placed third. They won against team Raika in the subsidiary final by 6-5. Raphaela Göschl-Marambio of Poloclub Schloss Ebreichsdorf: “The young guys from Germany of team Ebinger proved successful and played very good.”

Fernando Miño of the winning team Alpha Community was honoured Most Valuable Player, his horse Negrita became Best Playing Pony. “All matches were on a fast and competitive level. The teams that on paper appeared to be not that strong also prevailed.”

The Austrian Polo Open have a teamhandicap from +8 to +12 and are the sporting and social highlight of the Austrian polo season. Next to the sport the “good cause” is to the fore. Since 2011 the Poloclub Schloss Ebreichsdorf is supporting the “Pink-Ribbon-Aktion” by the Austrian association against cancer.
