Next weekend, on November 4th, the 124th Argentine Polo Open Championship 2017 start in Buenos Aires. The world’s most famous and important polo tournament, organised by the Argentine Polo Association, is played at the „Cathedral of Polo“ in Palermo/Buenos Aires and will be held from November 4th to December 2nd. The POLO+10 team is more than delighted to attend this spectacular venue personally again, as in the past years.

In the last years’s final of the Argentine Open, La Dolfina once again met their long-time rival Ellerstina and emerged victorious with a 16-12 score. La Dolfina featured the 10-goalers Adolfo Cambiaso, David Stirling, Pablo Mac Donough and Juan Martín Nero. Ellerstina consisted of the Pieres brothers Nicolás (9), Gonzalo (10) and Facundo (10) playing alongside their cousin Pablo Pieres (10). The Javier Novillo Astrada Award for the top scorer of the tournament went to Adolfo Cambiaso, who scored 40 goals during the Argentine Open 2016.

The Argentine Open is the third and final part of the Argentine Triple Crown, which is a series of the most important polo tournaments worldwide. The Triple Crown consists of the Tortugas Open, Hurlingham Open and Argentine Open. In 2016, La Dolfina won the Tortugas Open and Argentine Open, Ellerstina was successful at the Hurlingham Open. Thus nobody can predict who will be the winner of the 2017 Argentine Open. As well as the other two main polo events, the Tortugas Open and the Hurlingham Open, the handicap of the teams must be between 28 and 40 goals at the Argentine Open. The tournament attracts thousands of spectators each year to the stadium in Palermo, Buenos Aires.
