For the third time in a row team Lucchese wins at the Bombardier Pacific Coast Open at the Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club. In a thrilling final fight up to the last minute John Muse (0), Andres Weisz (+5), Santiago Torres (+5) und Adolfo Cambiaso (+10) asserted themselves against team Grants Farm with Andy Busch (+3), Jeff Hall (+7), Polito Pieres (+8) und Jared Sheldon (+2).

The first chukkers were dominated by a duel of the restrained Jeff Hall (+7) and the racy- aggressive Santiago Torres (+5). While Hall converted seven penalties for his team, Torres shot several spectacular goals. Therefore both teams were at the same level.

A turning point was the fourth chukker: Jeff Hall (+7), Polito Pierres (+8) and Jared Sheldon (+2) of team Grants Farm were piloting safely for the opponent ́s goal while team captain Andy Bush presented his finest work in the defense. A frustrated team Lucchese was fouling instead and found themselves six goals behind at the end of the fourth chukker.

In the fifth chukker Santiago Torres (+5) and Andres Weisz (+5) of team Lucchese started their goal hunt finally. Adolfo Cambiaso (+10) seemed to grown bigger them himself and controlled the ball very fast. But he was pressed by Polito Pieres (+8), who was watching him constantly and avoided many goals. But also John Muse (0) of team Lucchese was repelling several attacks. Team Lucchese was coming back at the end of the fifth chukker and was shortening their deficit to an 11:14.

Therefore the sixth chukker was a thrilling one again. All players started highly concentrated but team Lucchese countering every action of team Grants Farm. Attacked by three opponents Adolfo Cambiaso (+10) scored the goal of the game from the 60 yards line. Finally Santiago Torres (+5) marked the lead for team Lucchese with 15:14. But team Grants Farm was not giving up and a goal of Polito Piere (+8) equalised the score. The bell signalized the end of the sixth chuker and therefore the game went into the rule of the sudden death.

It looked as if the game would end in the favor of team Grants Farm. But Adolfo Cambiaso (+10) got himself the ball and brought it closer and closer to the goal. He finally shot the golden goal and got the victory for his team with a final score of 16:15.

In the petite finale (Western Badge and Trophy) team Mansour with Ben Soleimani (0), Adam Snow (+6), Hilario Ulloa (+9) and Santiago von Wernich (+5) won against team Farmers and Merchants Bank with Danny Walker (+2), Henry Walker (+2), Lucas Criado (+9) and Luis Escobar (+7) with a 12:9 on Saturday the 1st of September 2012.

The 103rd Bombardier Pacific Coast Open 2012 took place at the Santa Barbara Polo & Raqcuet Club in Santa Barbara, California from the 19th of August to the 2nd of September 2012. Four teams of the division to +20 were fighting for the trophy. Most Valuable Player became Adolfo Cambiaso (+10) and Best Playing Pony became Noriega (owned by Adolfo Cambiaso, ridden by Santiago Torres).
